Figma is seeking a Manager of Software Engineering to lead the Interaction Design team, which is responsible for creating and maintaining runtime APIs that support rich, high-fidelity interactions and animations across Figma's product suite. This team's work is critical to products like Prototyping, Slides, and Smart Animate, enabling customers to bring designs to life with interactive experiences. In this role, you will lead a team of engineers, including staff-level engineers, and be responsible for hiring, managing, supporting, and developing team members. You'll build and execute on a long-term roadmap to improve the platform, features, and runtimes supporting interactive and animated experiences. You'll partner with product and engineering leadership to set strategy, priorities, and mission for teams and projects, and roll up your sleeves as needed to engage in technical problem-solving on complex challenges. Key responsibilities include establishing trust within and across teams by creating accountability and a positive work environment, growing your career in an engaged and creative engineering community, and playing a role in building Figma's inclusive and diverse culture through hiring and community initiatives. Required qualifications: 2+ years managing and leading a high-output engineering team; 5+ years of engineering experience on complex systems emphasizing performance, reliability, quality, and extensibility; demonstrated leadership in building high-performing teams with a track record of motivating and mentoring senior engineers; ability to partner with product and development teams to build systems that solve their needs. Desirable experience includes building performant animation and interaction frameworks, deep knowledge of runtime environments (game, application, or browser engines), and experience with creative coding frameworks for interaction and animation.
