ServiceTitan is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team within R&D, responsible for growing the organization and delivering product excellence. The role combines people leadership with hands-on technical contribution, requiring a thoughtful, proactive leader who supports team growth, drives accountability, and balances rapid iteration with high product quality.
Key responsibilities include taking end-to-end ownership of team projects, mentoring and guiding engineers within and across teams, helping improve team performance and work quality, collaborating with recruiting on candidate interviews and lead generation activities, and communicating effectively with developers, product managers, customers, partners, and other leaders.
The ideal candidate will spend approximately 80% on leadership and management activities, with 10-20% hands-on technical contribution. You'll guide technology decisions and remain comfortable coding when needed to support team velocity and technical health. The role requires 1+ years of experience managing small to medium software development teams in an agile environment, plus 8+ years in senior engineering roles designing APIs, abstractions, and tools used by other engineers.
Required technical expertise includes expert-level knowledge of Microsoft .NET technology stack (C#, ASP.NET MVC, Web APIs), SQL databases (Microsoft SQL Server or equivalent), HTML5 and JavaScript (TypeScript and React experience is a plus), Git, unit testing, debugging, profiling, and performance monitoring. Strong understanding of distributed architecture best practices and excellent communication and technical writing skills are essential. A B.S., M.S., or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or related technical field is required.
