Ping Identity is seeking a Manager of Software Engineering to lead the Developer Platform (DevTools) team in Bengaluru. This is a hands-on technical leadership role with a Principal-level technical bar, combining people management with direct technical contribution.
You will lead the Bangalore-based team and set technical direction for the developer platform, including CI/CD pipelines, release automation, self-service workflows, and AI-enabled engineering tooling. The role owns pipeline reliability as a product, focusing on delivery health, time-to-feedback, release safety, and developer trust in platform signals.
Key responsibilities include staying actively hands-on in architecture, technical reviews, incident analysis, and selective implementation work while driving transformational change in how engineers build, test, and ship software. You'll partner across engineering to remove bottlenecks in build, test, deployment, and promotion flows, improving the paved-road experience for developers. You'll hire, coach, and grow a strong team while using data to prioritize investments and measure platform adoption, workflow quality, and engineering outcomes.
Success is measured by what the broader engineering organization achieves: faster delivery with less manual overhead, more reliable CI/CD systems that engineers trust, and greater developer autonomy through better self-service and safer promotion flows.
Required qualifications include 8+ years in software engineering, developer platform, DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering; 2+ years leading engineers with direct people-management responsibility; at least 1 year building AI-enabled engineering tools with measurable organizational adoption; strong track record as a hands-on senior technical leader in modern SaaS; demonstrated success leading similar platform or CI/CD transformations with measurable results; recent hands-on technical credibility; strong technical depth in CI/CD systems, build/release workflows, and internal platforms; experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native platforms in multitenant SaaS; strong engineering judgment in reliability, observability, and security; ability to lead cross-team technical programs; and excellent communication skills for global collaboration.
