New Relic is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Cloud Foundation team, the backbone of the observability platform. You will manage a distributed, high-performing engineering team across US and EU time zones, bridging regional collaboration and driving a culture shift from reactive delivery to proactive technical ownership. In this role, you will mentor and empower engineers while overseeing critical global infrastructure initiatives, including regional expansions into FedRAMP High / IL4 compliance, India, and Australia. You'll architect solutions for extreme-scale challenges—handling exabyte-scale data ingestion with sub-second latency using microservices, Go-based services, and cellular architectures. Key responsibilities include: - Leading and nurturing a high-performing engineering team across US and EU regions, facilitating career development and collaborative culture - Championing a shift to proactive technical ownership and establishing best practices for platform reliability and cross-regional alignment - Architecting and executing global infrastructure expansions across complex, compliance-heavy environments - Guiding technical decisions around microservices, Go, Kubernetes, and extreme-scale architectures - Partnering with Engineering, Security, and Product teams to align roadmaps and remove delivery blockers - Overseeing production environments, high-severity incident responses, and GitOps/infrastructure-as-code practices Required qualifications: 8+ years of software engineering experience with 2–4+ years of direct people management. Hands-on proficiency in Go (performance tuning, concurrency), Kubernetes and Docker at scale, production operations experience in 24/7 SaaS environments, and proven success managing distributed teams across time zones. Bonus experience includes multi-cloud expertise (AWS, Azure, GCP), FedRAMP/compliance navigation, infrastructure tooling (Kafka, Helm, ArgoCD, Terraform), AI/LLM familiarity, and observability domain background. Visa sponsorship is not available.
