Emburse is seeking a Manager of Software Engineering to lead and develop a team of engineers in Toronto. You will manage direct reports (remote or local), provide technical guidance and coaching, and drive the delivery of scalable, reliable applications that meet business objectives.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and grow a small engineering team, fostering a collaborative culture
- Manage goal priorities set by senior leadership and delegate tasks effectively
- Develop, coach, and assess team members; hire qualified candidates to strengthen the team
- Provide technical guidance, remove blockers, and encourage productivity
- Drive AI adoption throughout the software development lifecycle
- Participate in design activities and prepare technical requirements and software design specifications
- Establish attainable project goals to ensure on-time delivery within budget
- Monitor task and project completion; improve engineering quality and efficiency (code review, workflow optimization, etc.)
- Represent the product development team across the organization
- Collaborate with cross-functional peers and leaders to deliver projects
- Ensure familiarity with security, deployment, build, UAT, SDLC, SSDLC, PCI/DSS, GDPR, and CCPA compliance
You bring 6+ years of distributed software development experience and 2+ years in a manager or lead position. You have strong technical acumen, the ability to analyze software requirements and influence design plans, and excellent communication skills. You are focused on building high-performing teams and aligning product engineering with company vision.
