ClearGov is seeking a hands-on engineering manager to lead the Platform Services group and drive technical direction for their financial management and reporting platform. This role combines people leadership with active technical contribution, requiring the manager to mentor and develop software engineers while owning the delivery of platform capabilities supporting planning, budgeting, reporting, and financial data management.
Key responsibilities include leading engineering execution and architecture for platform services, overseeing the development of features that support financial workflows, and driving architectural consistency across shared financial data models. The manager will lead platform migration initiatives using safe deployment strategies such as parallel schemas, feature flags, and phased cutovers. You'll manage, mentor, and coach engineers to foster technical growth and high performance, while leading engineering planning, prioritization, and execution to ensure predictable delivery. Cross-functional collaboration is essential to deliver scalable, reliable, and maintainable solutions.
The ideal candidate brings a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, business administration, commerce, or engineering, with a minimum of 8 years of professional software engineering experience, including demonstrated success leading engineering teams in a SaaS environment. Strong technical expertise is required in SQL and relational databases, particularly in financial, reporting, or ERP systems. Experience designing and developing APIs, integration solutions, data import/export processes, and background processing with event-driven architectures is essential. You should have a strong understanding of observability, monitoring, and production support practices, with experience building and supporting multi-tenant SaaS platforms. Knowledge of configurable data models, metadata-driven architectures, and familiarity with AI-assisted development tools are valued. Experience working in Agile environments and delivery practices is expected.
