Okta is seeking a Manager of Site Reliability Engineering to lead technical operations and build the most reliable, performant systems through automation and infrastructure excellence. You will manage a team of SWEs and SREs, architecting and rolling out an internal developer platform (IDP) spanning CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and modernization efforts. Key responsibilities include enhancing fleet management automation, spearheading initiatives to improve engineer productivity, triaging complex production issues, and working cross-functionally with stakeholders to balance reliability, security, and delivery velocity. You'll mentor and develop team members, partner with recruiting on talent acquisition, monitor critical metrics (vulnerability scanning, cloud spend, RPO/RTO, toil overhead), and participate in 24x7 on-call rotations supporting a highly available production environment.
The ideal candidate brings a platform-as-product mindset with proven experience building and scaling internal developer platforms that treat engineering teams as customers. You should have deep expertise in the software side of SRE—leading teams to build robust, automated tooling for CI/CD orchestration, Kubernetes operators, or self-service infrastructure provisioning. You exemplify an automation-first philosophy, having transitioned teams from manual, toil-heavy operations to code-driven, automated workflows in high-scale cloud environments. Experience managing large-scale production Java/Tomcat and containerized services in AWS (EC2, ECS, KMS, Kinesis, RDS) or equivalent cloud platforms is essential. You possess strong knowledge of CI/CD principles, Linux fundamentals, OS hardening, networking, and IP protocols, combined with a robust security background. Leadership, communication, and project management skills are critical, as is a willingness to identify and solve problems proactively.
