FlixTrain is seeking a Manager of Onboard Technology to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of all onboard connectivity and technology systems across its train fleet. In this role, you will own the complete onboard technology ecosystem—including WiFi, network infrastructure, onboard units, and mobile devices for crew—and drive continuous improvement to enhance passenger experience and operational efficiency.
Key responsibilities include:
• Oversee the entire onboard technology stack, from WiFi and network architecture to hardware integration with train systems, ensuring seamless connectivity and reliability across the fleet.
• Serve as the central technical authority for all onboard systems, evaluating specifications, assessing trade-offs, and making well-reasoned technical decisions that balance ambition with feasibility.
• Monitor onboard technology performance continuously, identify issues early, and drive improvements that make every journey smoother for passengers and crew.
• Lead cross-functional projects around connectivity, network performance, and mobile device integration, taking ownership of outcomes and maintaining clear focus on business impact.
• Define technical specifications and network architectures that are both ambitious and implementable, ensuring seamless integration with the vehicle fleet and regulatory requirements.
• Develop test scenarios and functional validation protocols—particularly at critical customer and certification touchpoints—to ensure solutions work reliably in real-world operations.
• Stay current with emerging technologies (5G, IoT, Starlink) and translate insights into concrete recommendations for FlixTrain's technology roadmap.
• Collaborate closely with Operations, Customer Product, FlixTech, and external partners including Talgo, ECMs, and suppliers (Icomera, Advantech) to deliver integrated solutions.
You will be part of the Product Development team within Rolling Stock & Maintenance, directly influencing how FlixTrain maintains competitive advantage in onboard connectivity and delivers reliable, high-quality travel experiences.
