Helion is a fusion energy company on a mission to build the world's first commercial fusion power plant. Founded in 2013 and backed by $1.5B in funding from investors including Sam Altman, SoftBank, and Thrive Capital, Helion has achieved record-breaking plasma temperatures and is advancing toward its Orion prototype.
The Manager of Multistate Public Affairs will lead external stakeholder engagement across multiple states and national organizations to advance Helion's policy and business priorities in fusion energy and manufacturing. Reporting to the Senior Director of State & Local Affairs, this role bridges Helion's internal strategy with external policymakers, industry associations, and influential stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include building and maintaining relationships with national and multistate organizations; developing stakeholder maps across priority states; leading strategy and execution for high-impact conferences and convenings; coordinating with state and regional leads to align engagement with project priorities; partnering with internal teams to reinforce policy positions and narrative; and representing Helion in meetings with senior government officials and organizational leaders.
The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of government affairs, public affairs, policy, or stakeholder engagement experience, with proven success working across multiple states or at the national level with policy, regulatory, or political stakeholders. Strong political judgment, relationship-building capability, excellent communication and presentation skills, and willingness to travel approximately 25% are essential. This role offers flexibility to be based in Everett, Washington; Washington, D.C.; or remotely within the United States.
