Banyan Software is seeking a Manager of Applied AI Products to lead AI strategy and implementation for MedicatOne (M1), the leading EHR platform for college health and counseling. This is a hands-on player/coach role where you will personally design, build, and ship AI capabilities while influencing product strategy and elevating the team.
You will partner closely with the MedicatOne Product Manager, Chief Technology and Product Officer, and key clients to shape the AI roadmap and drive what gets built. The role requires genuine fluency in clinical workflows, healthcare data standards, and HIPAA compliance constraints, combined with hands-on technical depth to translate domain knowledge into AI-powered product capabilities that providers actually use.
Key responsibilities include:
**Product Strategy & Roadmap**: Partner with product leadership to shape the AI roadmap, translate provider pain points into well-scoped AI proposals, establish evaluation frameworks for feature performance and clinical utility, and inform the broader AI vision for the platform.
**Client Engagement**: Serve as a senior point of contact for strategic client conversations about AI capabilities. Lead discovery sessions with health center directors, clinicians, and administrators to surface unmet needs and validate product direction. Partner with Customer Success and Sales to translate feedback into requirements, and represent Medicat's AI strategy in prospect conversations and industry forums.
**Hands-On AI Development**: Personally design and build AI features, write production-quality code for LLM integrations, RAG pipelines, vector search, and data workflows. Own end-to-end architecture from data ingestion through deployment, ensuring implementations are reliable, HIPAA-compliant, and scalable. Stay current on the AI landscape and bring relevant patterns and tools into the platform.
**Team Collaboration & Coaching**: Work alongside engineers and product teammates as a contributor, not just a coordinator. Raise the technical bar through code review, pairing, and direct feedback. Align stakeholders on AI priorities with the credibility that comes from being hands-on. Help establish best practices for responsible, compliant AI development.
**Internal AI Enablement**: Act as an internal resource for other departments looking to use AI effectively. Provide hands-on guidance to non-engineering teams building AI-assisted workflows, ensuring sound practices from the start.
