Crusoe is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead the day-to-day technical execution of its mechanical engineering team. Reporting to the Sr. Engineering Manager, this role bridges strategic design direction and efficient project delivery, transforming complex customer requirements into production-ready 3D models and detailed drawings for modular buildings and power distribution equipment.
You will manage a team of mechanical design engineers, conducting regular 1-on-1s, performance reviews, and growth conversations while providing expert technical guidance and mentorship. You'll own the mechanical engineering workqueue, assigning engineers to projects based on expertise and production priorities while surfacing schedule risks proactively.
As a hands-on manager, you will execute individual contributor work at an advanced level when needed, utilizing expert 3D modeling skills to tackle complex design challenges. You'll serve as the technical reviewer for mechanical deliverables including specification sheets, bills of materials, structural/thermal analysis, and assembly instructions. You'll independently lead Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and champion strict compliance with regulatory requirements, commercial codes, and engineering standards (UL, IEC, IBC, ISO).
Key responsibilities include partnering closely with Manufacturing Engineering on design-to-manufacturing handoffs, leading Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) reviews, and driving cost-reduction strategies.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, 7+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience, 1-2 years proven supervisory/management experience leading engineering teams, expert proficiency with SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM, deep knowledge of metals and fabrication materials, first-principles problem-solving skills, proficient knowledge of building codes and UL listings, and excellent cross-functional communication. Physical capability to lift/move up to 50 lbs required; role is safety-sensitive with drug/alcohol program participation required.
Bonus qualifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license, Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, SolidWorks PDM Vault Administrator experience, advanced simulation/FEA software proficiency, and Lean/continuous improvement experience.
