Salary: USD 208,000 - 312,000 / annual

Clio is the global leader in legal AI technology, transforming how legal professionals and law firms work. We're seeking a Manager of Machine Learning Engineering to lead a team of 6+ ML engineers building state-of-the-art AI solutions for legal professionals. In this role, you'll lead the AI team's mission to deliver innovative GenAI and agentic systems that streamline legal work. Your responsibilities include: - Lead and mentor a team of 6+ ML engineers across traditional ML, GenAI, and agentic AI systems - Design and ship production-grade agentic workflows including retrieval, tool use, orchestration, and evaluation frameworks - Collaborate cross-functionally with MLOps, product management, operations, and data science to identify new ML and LLM-driven features - Conduct technical evaluations of ML/LLM products, vendors, and proof-of-concepts - Guide the team in building reliable, safe AI systems grounded in customer data - Review code and provide feedback across teams - Diagnose and solve complex technical problems spanning multiple engineering areas - Mentor team members using Agile processes in a large-scale SaaS environment You bring: - Proven experience managing high-performing ML engineering teams (6+ engineers) - Deep expertise in LLMs, GenAI, and agentic systems (tool-calling agents, RAG pipelines, prompt design) - Hands-on experience fine-tuning foundational models or training language models in-house - Strong data manipulation and preprocessing skills for complex unstructured data - Track record of mentorship in software development with Agile and SaaS products - Ability to quickly master new technologies in a fast-moving environment - Clear communication and relationship-building skills Clio offers competitive compensation ($208K-$312K USD), hybrid work with offices in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Dublin, and Sydney (minimum 2 days/week in-office for local employees), flexible time off (20 days encouraged), comprehensive health benefits, 401k matching, and a strong culture of diversity and inclusion.
