Zscaler is seeking a Manager of IT Security Engineering to lead a team responsible for securing the company's global enterprise using Zscaler's own Zero Trust security products. This is a hands-on management role with a hybrid preference for San Jose, CA, reporting to the Director of IT Infrastructure.
You will own the delivery of the internal security stack and drive the "Zscaler on Zscaler" Customer Zero program, which involves deploying products internally ahead of market release to gather feedback and validate real-world deployment scenarios. You'll lead company-wide security initiatives while remaining technically deep—rolling up your sleeves alongside engineers to review configurations, troubleshoot issues, and directly drive deployment projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, mentoring, and growing a small team of IT Security Engineers while staying actively technical
- Driving Customer Zero initiatives by deploying internal security platforms ahead of market release and coordinating feedback loops with product and engineering teams
- Managing cross-functional security projects and system deployments, aligning with IT, networking, endpoint, and application groups
- Establishing and monitoring enterprise-grade IT security standards across networks, endpoints, applications, and cloud environments
- Contributing to Zero Trust design and implementation, including policy optimization, access control, SSL decryption, segmentation, and secure connectivity
You should have 7+ years of IT security engineering experience with at least 2 years managing technical teams. Deep expertise in Zero Trust solutions, cloud architecture, cloud security, and strong fundamentals in operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), networking, access control, and authentication are essential. You'll need a track record of leading cross-functional initiatives and driving technology rollouts across large organizations, plus strong communication skills to translate technical work for non-technical stakeholders. Demonstrated curiosity about AI tools and a history of integrating new technologies into workflows is valued.
