Flexe is transforming the $1.5T logistics industry with a cloud-based software platform that connects 1,300+ warehouse operators across North America. The company enables enterprise customers to source, operate, and scale logistics services with unprecedented agility and flexibility.
As Manager II, Software Development, you will lead a team of 8–10 senior-level software engineers building scalable, enterprise-grade systems. This is a hands-on technical leadership role requiring both people management and deep architectural expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership (20%): Hire, manage, and develop a high-performing engineering team. Own recruiting, onboarding, coaching, and career development. Foster an inclusive culture that empowers engineers to grow technically while delivering excellent work.
Strategy & Roadmap (20%): Partner with Product Management to define short-, medium-, and long-term technical strategy. Own the technical vision for Flexe's software systems. Translate business requirements into clear technical priorities, align engineering initiatives with company objectives, and manage stakeholder expectations across product, design, operations, and executive teams.
Architecture & Scalability (30%): Lead the design and implementation of highly available, scalable software systems capable of handling enterprise-level demands. Conduct rigorous design reviews, deep-dive into complex technical issues and trade-offs, and establish resilient infrastructure. Partner with broader engineering leadership to ensure system interoperability and manage cross-team dependencies.
Engineering Excellence (30%): Define and enforce engineering standards, architectural best practices, and deployment methodologies. Drive operational excellence through rigorous testing, code reviews, continuous integration, and safe deployment. Champion adoption of AI-assisted development tools to increase team velocity and code quality.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on software development experience
- 2+ years managing and mentoring software engineering teams
- Proven track record building successful enterprise or consumer-facing products
- Excellent software project management and communication skills
- Deep understanding of software architecture and development best practices
- Strong quantitative analysis and critical thinking skills
Preferred: Startup experience and/or supply chain domain knowledge.
This is a hybrid role based in Seattle, WA. Team members work in-office Tuesday–Thursday and remotely Monday and Friday.
