Datadog is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Sensitive Data Scanner (SDS) Telemetry team based in Paris. The SDS group builds the world's easiest-to-use tool for discovering, classifying, managing, and reporting sensitive data risks across cloud, on-premise, and code environments.
In this role, you will lead a small, close-knit team responsible for building and scaling detection capabilities that scan all telemetry data flowing into Datadog—logs, APM spans, and RUM events—operating in streaming mode at very large scale. You'll have the opportunity to shape how the team grows as the SDS Telemetry scope expands.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and growing a team of engineers building real-time sensitive data detection across Datadog's Logs, APM, and RUM telemetry pipelines
- Partnering closely with Logs, APM, RUM teams, and Datadog's Trust & Safety team to align on roadmap and integration priorities
- Shaping product direction by working with Product teams, grounding decisions in customer needs and business impact
- Staying hands-on by contributing to design decisions and participating in the team's on-call rotation
- Recruiting, mentoring, and developing engineers as the team grows
- Building a strong engineering culture within the broader SDS group
You should have experience building and shipping revenue-generating products with strong product acumen and a customer-first mindset. Hands-on experience with Go and/or Java, plus a track record building distributed, streaming systems at scale, is essential. You have experience managing engineers or are ready to step into your first formal management role, with the ability to set goals, give feedback, and help teams grow. You measure success through customer and business outcomes, and you're comfortable weighing tradeoffs between speed and correctness in fast-moving environments.
