Datadog is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the OrgStore Blueprint team, a platform infrastructure group building a fully-managed data storage platform powered by Postgres. OrgStore serves thousands of engineers across Datadog's product teams, providing transactional (OLTP) data capabilities with a custom data plane and flexible administrative layer.
You will manage a team of 4-8 software engineers, guiding their career growth while maintaining high performance. Your responsibilities include driving the technical roadmap in collaboration with product and support teams, ensuring alignment with company objectives and customer satisfaction. You'll engage with complex technical problems, contribute as a code reviewer and core contributor, lead design decisions, and participate in on-call rotations.
You'll understand the broader business context to align technical decisions with strategic goals, support long-term innovation, and contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as part of Datadog's engineering leadership team. Collaboration is central to the role—you'll work closely with other engineering, product, and support teams across the organization.
Ideal candidates are seasoned software engineers with experience building developer tools, running databases, and maintaining infrastructure with a focus on reliability and fault tolerance. You should be a proven leader capable of managing team dynamics, setting goals, providing feedback, and fostering a positive work environment. Strong project management skills, excellent communication with team members and stakeholders, and demonstrated ability to use AI coding tools in daily workflows are essential. Experience pushing the boundaries of how AI can improve software engineering practices is a bonus.
