Datadog is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team building AI-powered developer tools focused on agent verification and orchestration. The core problem the team solves is verification—ensuring that AI agents produce outputs that actually work against real systems before deployment. Datadog has spent a decade collecting production observability data that makes this verification answerable, and this role owns the surfaces where developers interact with coding agents daily. You will lead and grow an engineering team, owning hiring, onboarding, and career development. You'll partner with staff-level engineers on technical architecture decisions and drive the product roadmap in collaboration with Product and Design. The role emphasizes establishing execution rhythm around planning, delivery, quality, and operational ownership of the services your team builds. Key responsibilities include leading a team of engineers building AI developer tools, owning technical direction and architecture decisions, driving down developer cycle time while improving correctness, partnering with Product and Design on roadmap prioritization, and establishing team execution practices. Ideal candidates have hands-on experience shipping code with AI agents in production, thrive in early-stage environments where the roadmap evolves, and have strong technical depth in full-stack development (TypeScript/React and systems-level work). You should have built developer-facing products or tooling where speed, reliability, and developer experience were critical, and you maintain close enough connection to code to earn trust from senior engineers. A genuine point of view on AI coding tools—where they help today, where they fall short, and how to close gaps—is essential. This is early-stage product work backed by the distribution, data, and engineering depth of an established company. Your first users will be Datadog's own engineers, providing feedback loops measured in hours. Datadog operates as a hybrid workplace and values office culture for collaboration and creativity.
