Coinbase is hiring a Manager of Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) to lead the Technology Risk & Controls team within Security. This role combines people management with hands-on advisory coverage across critical technology and security domains including disaster recovery, SDLC, AI governance, identity and access management, and supply chain risk.
You will lead a team of technology and security analysts while directly owning advisory coverage for assigned domains. Key responsibilities include assessing risk exposure and control effectiveness across the business, partnering with engineering and technology teams to evaluate posture and identify control gaps, reviewing and challenging risk and control design to ensure scalability and regulatory alignment, and driving coordination across risk, controls, policy, audit, and assurance functions.
You'll intake and triage risks with subject matter experts, facilitate risk treatment decisions, and validate mitigation execution. A critical part of the role is enabling leadership decision-making by translating quantitative and qualitative risk tradeoffs into clear narratives that support prioritization and reporting. You'll build and coach a high-performing team, fostering a culture of agility, innovation, and continuous feedback.
The ideal candidate brings 8+ years in technology risk, IT controls, IT audit, cybersecurity risk, or compliance with full-stack GRC experience (risk management, control design, continuous monitoring, governance). You need deep understanding of technical governance across infrastructure resiliency, SDLC, change management, or incident response, with proven ability to challenge status quo and drive improvement. Demonstrated success managing and mentoring analysts, influencing cross-functional stakeholders, and translating complex concepts for technical and non-technical audiences is essential. Experience using generative AI responsibly to improve workflow efficiency is valued.
