Shield AI, a venture-backed defense-tech company, is seeking an Aerostructures Design Manager to lead the structural design and development of components for next-generation autonomous aircraft. In this role, you will manage and mentor a structures engineering team while driving the design and development of high-performance structural components from concept through production release.
You will work cross-functionally with aerodynamics, systems integration, manufacturing, and program management teams to ensure structural integrity, manufacturability, and seamless system integration across one of the most advanced autonomous aircraft platforms in development today. Your responsibilities include leading design reviews, establishing structural analysis methodologies, managing design trade studies, and ensuring compliance with aerospace standards and regulations.
This position requires significant hands-on aerospace engineering expertise with composite and/or metallic airframe design, combined with demonstrated team leadership experience. You will be expected to mentor junior engineers, establish best practices for structural design processes, and contribute technically while managing team performance and development.
