Teamworks is hiring its first Engineering Manager for the Inventory Management (IM) team, which is in the midst of a full re-platform effort—rebuilding an acquired system into a modern, native Teamworks product. This is a hands-on management role leading a Belfast-based team of early-career and apprentice engineers through a critical growth phase.
You will own the IM V2 roadmap in partnership with the Product Manager and GM of Operations, balancing legacy system support, new customer onboarding, and the migration to V2. Day-to-day responsibilities include issue assignment, capacity planning, and milestone delivery. A key part of the role is building individual growth plans for apprentice and early-career engineers, tracking apprenticeship learning requirements, and coaching teammates to progress through their development programs.
You'll also partner with other engineering managers across Teamworks to align on apprentice standards and support cross-team integrations, fostering the collaborative culture that defines Teamworks' engineering organization.
Required qualifications: 6+ years as a hands-on software engineer with strong Ruby on Rails experience and enough React familiarity to understand the full product surface and review code substantively. You must have 2+ years of proven people management experience across a range of skill levels, and a track record of partnering closely with other engineering teams. You must be based within reasonable commute distance of Belfast; this is a hybrid role requiring in-office presence a couple of days per week.
Desirable experience includes Infrastructure as Code, hands-on work with AI tooling (some IM V2 features use AI/LLMs), and exposure to government programs like apprenticeship schemes in the UK or Northern Ireland. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
