Okta is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the SIW Platform team within the Enterprise Access pillar. This team owns Okta's secure web experiences for end-user authentication and access, building and maintaining the Okta Sign-In Widget (SIW)—a highly secure, open-source login platform designed for customization by internal teams and external customers.
In this role, you will manage team performance, goals, and career development while fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment. You'll partner with product management and technical leads to define strategic direction and roadmap for the team. Key responsibilities include maintaining high standards for quality, security, and operational excellence through effective processes, mentorship, and a focus on testing and automation. You'll lead the team in adopting new technologies and practices, including AI integration into the software development lifecycle, and drive key projects from inception to delivery with effective cross-functional collaboration.
You'll also own recruitment, hiring, and retention of top engineering talent to build a diverse, high-performing team. The role requires proven ability to lead and mentor engineers, manage technical projects from planning to execution with strong Agile and CI/CD knowledge, and excellent communication skills for cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
Required qualifications include a strong technical background in building scalable, secure, high-performance web applications; familiarity with modern frontend stacks (JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Webpack/Vite); knowledge of server-side architecture (Java/C#, Spring Framework); understanding of web security, secure coding, and accessibility standards (WCAG); and 10+ years of software development experience with at least 5 years designing enterprise-grade software and 2+ years managing engineering teams. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent is required. Prior experience as a Tech Lead or in architecture-focused roles is highly desirable. Knowledge of IAM protocols (OAuth, OIDC, SAML) and cybersecurity principles is a strong plus.
