Okta is seeking a Manager of Engineering to lead the Authentication Experience team in Bengaluru. This role sits at the intersection of security and user experience, focusing on building cutting-edge authentication mechanisms for both workforce and consumer identity platforms.
You will manage the entire lifecycle of major features from ideation through delivery, collaborating with architects, product, design, QA, and documentation teams. Key responsibilities include proposing and aligning on technical strategy, contributing to technical designs and architectural decisions, developing high-quality software components, conducting code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers.
The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of software development experience, with at least 5 years designing and building enterprise-grade software using Java at scale. You should have strong hands-on expertise in Java/Spring Boot, object-oriented design patterns, distributed systems (caching, async processing, multi-threading), AWS, and databases. Experience with Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools is essential. You must demonstrate excellent communication skills and proven ability to lead and mentor engineers in geo-distributed teams.
Nice-to-have qualifications include prior tech lead experience, deep understanding of IAM protocols (FIDO, WebAuthn, SSO, SAML, OAuth), multi-factor authentication and phishing resistance, cybersecurity principles, JavaScript/UI development, and experience building teams from the ground up.
