Arc is electrifying the marine industry by rethinking powertrains, software, and vessel designs from first principles. The company has moved beyond consumer development into scaling production and expanding into commercial applications (tugs, ferries, defense) with signed contracts and a robust pipeline. As Manager of Electrical Systems, you will lead the development of cutting-edge vehicle control systems across all Arc programs. You'll manage a high-performing vehicle controls engineering team, providing mentorship, career development, and performance guidance. Your responsibilities include gathering requirements, allocating resources, optimizing team performance, and fostering a culture of innovation and accountability. Key responsibilities: - Lead, mentor, and grow a vehicle controls engineering team with employee guidance and career development support - Invest in processes that maximize efficiency, quality, and velocity - Partner with electrical, firmware, and mechanical teams to drive cross-domain integration and resolve complex system-level issues - Collaborate with service and manufacturing teams to triage controls faults, define service actions, and ensure fleet uptime - Contribute to roadmap planning for future vehicle programs, identifying technical risks and staffing needs - Drive long-term technical strategy to build competitive moats and advance capabilities - Model Arc's values and inspire them across the organization Minimum qualifications include 5+ years of hands-on experience in embedded systems, controls, or vehicle electrical integration; 2+ years proven experience leading and managing engineering teams; demonstrated success shipping complex hardware-integrated, real-time systems into production; strong system-level thinking under real-world constraints; and excellent communication and cross-functional influence skills. US Person status under ITAR is required. Bonus qualifications include EV or marine electrical/controls architecture experience, proficiency in C/C++, Rust, or similar embedded languages, experience with model-based design or control algorithms (MATLAB/Simulink), and enthusiasm for boating.
