Salary: USD 242,873 - 255,016.65 / annual
Archer is an aerospace company building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed to carry four passengers with minimal noise. This Manager role leads the electric engine software team responsible for flight-critical powertrain software development.
You will build and mentor a world-class engineering team specializing in DO-178C compliant flight-critical software. Your responsibilities include coordinating flight software development, verification, and certification of the aerospace powertrain and motor control systems. You'll participate in defining and documenting streamlined software development and verification processes that support safety-critical software certification.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead, build, and mentor a team of software engineers focused on flight-critical powertrain software
- Coordinate development, verification, and certification of aerospace powertrain software including motor control
- Collaborate with certification and safety teams to develop the Plan for Software Aspects of Certification (PSAC)
- Guide architecture and design of in-house software to facilitate testing and analysis
- Shepherd software through DO-178C Stages of Involvement (SOI) audits 1-4 and compliance objectives
- Oversee tool qualification to DO-330 standards
- Establish KPIs, monitor processes, and drive continuous improvement in compliance, safety, and efficiency
- Foster team collaboration and support professional development
Minimum requirements: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. 10+ years of experience in software engineering, technical leadership, or management roles involving C programming, aerospace software development (DO-178), safety-critical software, and software development lifecycle processes.
