Sentry is seeking a Manager, Design Engineering to lead the team behind Scraps, their design system. This role manages a team of designers and front-end engineers building the infrastructure that powers UI development across the organization.
The position sits at the intersection of design, engineering, and AI tooling. You will be responsible for managing and growing a cross-functional team, owning the strategic roadmap for the design system, and maintaining UI quality and consistency. Key responsibilities include hiring and coaching team members across both design and engineering disciplines, prioritizing components and tools, keeping design and code in sync (tokens, variables, component parity, Figma-to-production pipeline), and staying hands-on with component building and infrastructure development.
You'll drive adoption of the design system across product teams through documentation, lint rules, and contribution workflows. The role requires balancing long-term system thinking with the practical needs of product teams shipping on tight timelines. You should be comfortable reviewing component APIs in pull requests, critiquing design consistency, and creating skills to help AI agents use the design system more effectively.
