Deliveroo is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to join its London office and work on delivery-time prediction systems that power the platform's core operations. You'll own the ETA models that customers see and the signals used by the dispatcher for automatic rider allocation across a three-sided marketplace serving millions globally.
Key responsibilities include designing and improving ETA and delivery-time prediction models for the consumer-facing experience, building models that inform automatic rider-to-order allocation, improving prediction quality across different markets and delivery conditions, and productionizing end-to-end ML solutions from concept to shipped code. You'll collaborate cross-functionally with software engineers, data scientists, and product managers to enhance how delivery-time predictions are used across the platform.
You'll need a minimum of 3+ years as an ML Engineer or Data Scientist with proven ability to write high-quality production code in Python. Strong expertise in machine learning fundamentals, predictive modeling (especially forecasting and real-time decision-making), and software engineering principles is essential. Experience taking models to production, applying ML to complex business problems, and translating ambiguous requirements into technical solutions is required. A bias toward simplicity and focus on tangible business impact over theoretical complexity is valued.
Deliveroo, now part of DoorDash, offers competitive salary and equity, a low-hierarchy high-ownership environment, and the opportunity to solve meaningful problems at real scale. The role is hybrid (3 days in office) based in London at The River Building HQ. You'll work alongside ambitious, supportive teams and have opportunities for rapid career growth through challenging, ambiguous problems with strong organizational support.
