Tycho.AI, spun out of MIT and backed by DoD contracts, is building breakthrough AI and autonomy solutions for unmanned systems operating in GPS-denied and contested environments. The company is a fast-growing dual-use technology firm at the forefront of national security and commercial innovation, with applications spanning defense, logistics, and disaster response.
As a Machine Learning Engineer specializing in Computer Vision & Robotics, you will design and optimize ML models for computer vision and robotics applications under tight compute and memory budgets. Key responsibilities include building robust training and fine-tuning pipelines for large-scale datasets, compressing and accelerating models for embedded accelerators (NPU/TPU/GPU delegates), and profiling on-device inference pipelines for latency, throughput, and accuracy optimization. You'll write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in Python and/or C++, and stay current on state-of-the-art ML techniques and efficient edge deployment research in autonomy and perception.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; hands-on experience applying ML to computer vision and/or robotics; proficiency with PyTorch or TensorFlow; strong coding skills in Python or C++ (ideally both); experience deploying ML models and building training pipelines; and familiarity with Git and collaborative software development practices.
Nice-to-have skills include CUDA kernel development and model optimization (quantization, pruning, distillation), experience with ONNX, TensorRT, or OpenVINO for deployment, robotics middleware (ROS2), SLAM, 3D perception, or sensor fusion (LiDAR, IMU), and real-time or low-latency inference pipelines.
Tycho.AI offers competitive salary, meaningful equity, and a generous benefits package. The culture emphasizes innovation, execution, continuous learning, and high trust. You'll be part of a high-caliber, rapidly scaling startup defining the future of autonomous intelligence and helping shape the software development culture you want to work in.
