Adyen is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to join their Amsterdam office and build robust, production-grade machine learning systems at scale. You will design, productionize, and maintain ML services powering critical data products across multiple teams including Optimize, Protect, Identity, Behavioral Fraud, and Regulatory Reporting Technology. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining production ML pipelines for data ingestion, training, validation, and deployment across diverse domains: online learning algorithms for optimization decisions, clustering for customer segmentation, supervised/semi-supervised learning for risk pattern inference, graph analysis, representation learning for behavior prediction, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) systems, and real-time anomaly detection using time-series modeling. You will identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in ML training and inference (memory, latency, training time), collaborate with software engineers to integrate ML solutions into products, work with data scientists to transition research prototypes into scalable production systems, partner with MLOps and platform teams on tool integration and prioritization, and champion engineering best practices across product ML teams. Required qualifications: 4+ years as an ML engineer, strong Python programming, full ML model lifecycle experience in production, big data pipeline creation, solid software engineering and data engineering/MLOps principles, knowledge of data science and statistics, proficiency with standard Python data science tools (PySpark, Trino SQL, TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost/LightGBM, Pandas, MLFlow, Airflow), ML infrastructure experience (Kubernetes, Docker, Prometheus, Grafana), experimental mindset with launch-fast iteration mentality, and ability to lead projects from ideation to deployment while communicating complex outcomes to diverse stakeholders. Nice-to-have: distributed GPU compute experience and feature store familiarity. This is a full-time, in-office position requiring relocation to the Netherlands if not currently based there.
