Planet designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites in history, delivering empirical Earth observation data to commercial, environmental, and humanitarian sectors. As a Logistics Manager on the Ground Stations Operations Team, you will own end-to-end supply chain logistics for Planet's geographically diverse ground station network, ensuring seamless equipment delivery and operational readiness.
Key responsibilities include sourcing and negotiating procurement for ground station materials and specialized equipment, coordinating global supply chain logistics across remote facilities, and managing vendor and logistics partner relationships to optimize costs and service terms. You will partner with International Trade Compliance teams to secure export/import licenses and maintain compliance with global trade regulations, liaise with international freight forwarders and customs brokers, and track and audit spare parts inventory across ground station sites.
You will create and maintain databases of commercial invoices, ECCN, and HST information for export-controlled materials, and produce regular reports to maintain operational readiness. The role requires close collaboration with IT, ITC, and mission control teams to optimize network performance.
This is a full-time, in-office position based in San Francisco, requiring 5 days per week on-site and up to 25% travel. You'll need 4+ years of supply chain or logistics experience, a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, basic programming skills (scripting and data analysis), and the ability to work independently. Export control compliance (EAR/ITAR) access is required. Beneficial qualifications include Lean Six Sigma certification, ASCM credentials (CPIM, CSCP, CLTD), experience with Python/Bash scripting, Linux/UNIX systems, IP networks, or aerospace background.
