Base Power is hiring a Local Government Affairs Lead to build and manage relationships with local governments and regulators across the country. This role is the primary point of contact between Base and mayors, city councils, municipal leaders, and local stakeholders, introducing Base's distributed battery solutions to communities and demonstrating how the company's products solve real problems for constituents.
You will own Base's local government affairs strategy across assigned regions and markets, identifying priority cities and municipalities, building relationships with mayors and city officials, and creating a pipeline of opportunities for Base to support local infrastructure and economic goals. You'll represent Base at city council meetings, municipal forums, and community events, developing materials and briefings that position Base as a credible partner for energy reliability, affordability, and grid modernization.
Key responsibilities include identifying policy barriers and opportunities at the local level (zoning, permitting, incentive programs, procurement policies), recommending solutions that enable Base to operate effectively, and executing on those recommendations. You'll travel regularly across assigned states to meet with local leaders, understand their challenges firsthand, and present Base's solutions in plain language. You'll develop briefing materials, one-pagers, and pitch decks tailored to municipal audiences.
You'll translate Base's technical products and capabilities into terms that resonate with mayors, council members, and everyday constituents, explaining why distributed batteries matter for their communities. You'll develop and pitch coalition strategies that connect local government priorities (reliability, affordability, resilience, job creation, tax base) with Base's products, identifying and recruiting local partners—community organizations, business groups, labor unions, environmental advocates—to amplify support.
You'll build and maintain a rigorous tracking system for relationships, commitments, and follow-ups, managing contact information, conversation histories, and next steps across dozens of municipalities. This is a high-ownership role within the Legal, Regulatory, and Policy team, working closely with operations, community relations, and product teams.
