BillionToOne is a publicly traded genomics company focused on transforming prenatal and cancer diagnostics. We are seeking a LIMS Associate to join our Laboratory Information Management Systems team supporting clinical patient testing in our high-throughput CLIA-certified lab in Union City, CA.
In this role, you will serve as a critical bridge between our clinical laboratory operations and LIMS engineering teams. Your primary responsibilities include coordinating technology transfers for new workflows and product updates, triaging and resolving support tickets from lab staff, and monitoring LIMS usage patterns to identify improvement opportunities. You will work directly with CLIA lab operators to minimize sample turnaround time, escalate unresolved technical issues appropriately, and assist in testing and documenting new LIMS workflow versions.
Key responsibilities:
- Meet with CLIA lab staff and LIMS Engineers to coordinate updates and new workflow launches
- Support lab operators in resolving LIMS issues to maintain sample processing efficiency
- Triage and escalate unresolved technical issues to appropriate team members
- Monitor sample queues and follow up on delays or unresolved issues
- Observe lab operations and collect feedback to identify LIMS improvement opportunities
- Assist in testing and documenting new LIMS workflow versions
- Ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with biological or computational focus
- Hands-on laboratory bench experience (undergraduate research, internships, or equivalent)
- Experience configuring or developing LIMS, productivity apps, or lab automation tools
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose advanced technical issues
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work flexibly under time constraints
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort with diverse daily tasks in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
Nice-to-have qualifications include CLIA lab, medical device, or pharma experience; data analysis skills in Python, SQL, or Excel; and familiarity with quality management systems and regulations (CFR 21 Part 11, ISO 13485).
This is primarily an onsite role at our Union City lab with flexibility to work from home or at our Menlo Park site when applicable.
