Anduril Industries is seeking a Liaison Engineer to support the Fury autonomous aircraft program at the Victorville Test Site. This is a hands-on engineering role bridging flight test operations, maintenance personnel, and design engineering teams.
You will serve as the primary on-site technical point of contact during ground and flight testing, providing rapid engineering resolution to unexpected technical issues, defects, and non-conformances. Your responsibilities include:
**On-Site Engineering Support**: Interpret blueprints, 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to resolve discrepancies in real time. Serve as the engineering point of contact for maintenance crews.
**Nonconformance & MRB Disposition**: Evaluate defects found during inspection, maintenance, or test and issue engineering dispositions (use-as-is, repair, rework) within delegated authority. Participate in Material Review Board discussions, assess structural and systems integrity impact, and support root cause and corrective action investigations.
**Flight Line Modification & Repair Authority**: Create, authorize, and oversee redline drawing changes or field modifications. Draft clear technical repair instructions for mechanics, escalating to Design Engineering when fixes exceed delegated authority. Take ownership of hardware availability for active repairs.
**Airworthiness & Compliance**: Ensure all temporary repairs, modifications, and deviations comply with FAA regulations, company engineering standards, and quality system requirements (AS9100-aligned processes).
**Configuration Management**: Document every temporary redline, repair, and non-conformance so the aircraft's as-built configuration is accurately tracked in PLM/MES/ERP systems. Maintain traceability from disposition through installed hardware.
**Cross-Functional Interface**: Facilitate two-way communication between flight line mechanics and remote design engineering teams. Flag systemic issues to program leadership with supporting data.
A typical day involves hangar and flight line walkthroughs, MRB collaboration, authoring repair instructions, documenting configuration changes, and feeding field findings back into design engineering and RCCA processes.
The role is 100% on-site at Victorville Test Site. You will work in a hangar environment on active flight lines, exposed to noise, heat, and high-desert weather. You must be comfortable climbing on, around, and inside aircraft to inspect components, working at height and in confined spaces with appropriate PPE. The role may require shifted hours or on-call coverage around test windows.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline
- 3+ years in aviation maintenance support, flight test support, or liaison/MRB engineering
- Ability to read, interpret, and redline complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematics; working knowledge of GD&T
- Familiarity with aircraft structures (composite and/or metallic) and systems (mechanical, electrical, or avionics)
- Experience using 3D CAD software (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks) to view and query models
- Experience with PLM, ERP, and/or MES systems for configuration and nonconformance tracking
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work effectively with design engineers, shop-floor technicians, and leadership simultaneously
- Bias for action, sound judgment under pressure and ambiguity, genuine enjoyment of hands-on troubleshooting
- U.S. Citizenship required; must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Prior Material Review Board delegation/authority
- Experience supporting UAS/autonomous aircraft programs
- Familiarity with flight test operations, test instrumentation/data acquisition, and flight line safety protocols
- Working knowledge of FAA regulations and experimental airworthiness certification
- Experience performing or reviewing minor structural repair analysis (stress/margin checks) for engineering dispositions
