Anduril Industries, a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities, is seeking a Legal Operations Engineer to join its rapidly growing Legal Operations team in Costa Mesa, California. This is a hands-on technical execution role serving as the operational backbone for the Legal Department's technology ecosystem. You will work across multiple systems including Jira, Airtable, Palantir Foundry, contract lifecycle management (CLM), e-signature platforms, and matter management tools. The role spans immediate operational needs—resolving support tickets, fixing broken workflows, managing user access and permissions—to longer-term process improvements and system implementations. Key responsibilities include: **Systems Administration & Operational Excellence:** - Triage and resolve tickets in the Legal Department's support queue in Jira, escalating matters requiring legal judgment - Serve as frontline administrator for legal systems: CLM, e-signature, matter management, document management, e-billing, and AI tooling - Monitor automations and integrations for failures; diagnose and fix root causes - Execute recurring operational work: user provisioning/offboarding, template updates, approval routing changes, access reviews, system hygiene - Maintain data integrity across contract and matter management systems through metadata standards, field hygiene, bulk updates, deduplication, and cleanup - Produce and refresh recurring reporting and dashboards on cycle times, request volume, contract throughput, and outside counsel spend **Process Improvements:** - Incrementally improve existing workflows by reducing manual steps, tightening validation, adding conditional logic - Build automations and integrations using no-code/low-code platforms, APIs, and scripting - Track recurring pain points from the ticket queue and surface solutions with effort estimates - Assist with data migrations and configuration changes during larger Legal Ops initiatives - Support AI tooling in the department: prompt and template maintenance, output quality spot-checks, honest reporting on tool limitations **Growing Into:** - Drive tool adoption through training, office hours, and enablement materials - Scope and design new workflows and lightweight applications from ambiguous requirements - Translate lawyer, paralegal, and operations associate needs into technical requirements - Take lead technical role in new system implementations and vendor evaluations - Partner with IT, Security, Procurement, and Finance on integrations, vendor onboarding, data handling, and export control requirements - Shape the technical direction of the Legal Department's tooling as the function expands This role is ideal for someone scrappy, technically curious, and allergic to manual work that machines could do. You'll be the person who gets pinged when a workflow breaks and who designs the next generation of systems. **REQUIREMENTS:** - 2–4 years of relevant experience in legal operations, legal technology, systems administration, technical support, or comparable operations/tooling role - Hands-on experience administering or supporting at least one business system (CLM, matter management, e-billing, document management, e-signature, CRM, or similar) - Demonstrated technical execution capability: built automations in no-code/low-code platforms, written scripts or queries, or worked with APIs; able to describe something specific you built and the problem it solved - Track record working an operational queue with volume and shifting priority, closing tickets rather than accumulating them - Proficiency in productivity and management tools such as Airtable, Slack, DocuSign, Jira, Salesforce, Oracle ERP, and/or Foundry; experience learning new platforms quickly - Working understanding of contracts and legal workflows: redlines, signature blocks, approval thresholds, retention obligations, and why they matter - Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to explain technical constraints to lawyers and legal requirements to engineers - Excellent attention to detail and accuracy; understanding that in legal systems a silent data error is worse than a loud outage - Ability to build strong relationships within the team and cross-functionally (IT, Security, Real Estate, Procurement, Finance, Growth/Business Development) - Solutions-oriented with bias toward automation, process optimization, and scalable systems over manual workarounds - Quick learner and independent performer; able to work with autonomy and eager to make impact on new topics - Willing to wear multiple hats with shifting priorities and work on projects of all types - Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills - Positive, team-player attitude with good judgment and eagerness to help others - Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:** - Passion for national security and changing the landscape of defense contracting - Experience at startup, defense, or in-house at high-growth company - Experience at law firm, ALSP, or legal technology vendor in implementation, solutions, or support capacity - Experience building against REST APIs and webhooks, or working with structured data at scale (SQL or equivalent) - Experience with Palantir Foundry or comparable data platform - Experience with LLM-based tooling in production workflow - Bachelor's degree in technical field, paralegal certificate, or equivalent demonstrated capability - Experience with government contracting, export controls (ITAR/EAR), or regulated data environment
