The Legal Engineering team comprises former practicing attorneys who drive customer value throughout the entire lifecycle. Harvey segments Legal Engineering into three specialized tracks: Pre-Sales, Post-Sales (Product Specialists), and Custom Solutions. All Legal Engineers understand how lawyers think and work, translating real legal workflows into Harvey solutions while shaping the product roadmap based on practitioner feedback.
As a Legal Engineer (Pre-Sales), you will work closely with Account Executives to engage leading law firms and legal teams during the pre-sales process. Your responsibilities include leading collaborative pilot programs, guiding prospects through AI capabilities, working alongside lawyers to understand their workflows, building tailored solutions, and demonstrating meaningful value in real legal use cases. You'll translate prospect feedback into product insights, directly influencing Harvey's development roadmap. Travel is expected approximately 2-3+ times per month for 1-3 days at a time, always for significant business needs.
The role requires deep expertise in legal practice combined with exceptional relationship-building and communication skills. You'll engage with senior legal stakeholders, lead live demos, facilitate workshops, and drive strategic customer conversations. Success depends on understanding law firm economics, balancing legal risk with business priorities, and translating complex legal workflows into practical AI solutions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- JD or equivalent legal qualification
- 3+ years practicing law in-house, at a top-tier law firm, or advising sophisticated corporate legal teams
- Strong understanding of law firm workflows, challenges, and demands, including balancing legal risk with business priorities
- Executive presence and relationship-building skills; ability to establish credibility with legal and business stakeholders at all levels
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills; comfortable leading live demos, facilitating workshops, and engaging in strategic conversations
- Deep curiosity about AI's potential to transform legal work, paired with practical, solutions-oriented mindset and bias toward action
- Track record partnering with senior stakeholders to drive results, with curiosity for testing approaches and optimizing for customer outcomes
- Plus factors: cross-functional experience (business, ops, compliance, product), sales/customer-facing experience (law firm BD, secondment), and/or hands-on experience using AI tools in legal practice
