Xero is seeking a Technical Product Manager to lead the modernization of its marketing data platform and drive AI integration across data products. Operating independently, you will bridge complex engineering systems and business needs, ensuring foundational architecture supports sophisticated data science and analytics. You will lead efforts to dismantle data silos and replace legacy frameworks with scalable, real-time data solutions. Your impact will be felt globally as you collaborate with commercial stakeholders to translate business strategies into actionable requirements. You will balance long-term architectural transformation with incremental, high-value product deliveries, empowering teams to make data-driven decisions and directly influencing how internal teams and external customers interact with intelligence systems. You will join a multidisciplinary team of approximately 50 specialists, including data engineers, data scientists, applied scientists, market insights professionals, and economic researchers. This collective manages go-to-market data engineering, science, and research capabilities across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and the US. Initial focus areas include: navigating and upgrading a 15-year-old architectural framework into a modern data ecosystem; unifying fragmented, duplicated data sources to establish a single trusted source of truth; collaborating with data engineering and applied science leads to embed AI capabilities into frontline workflows; and partnering with sales, marketing, and customer support to outline and deliver immediate reporting enhancements. The role is ideally based in Melbourne to maintain close proximity to the core engineering team, though applicants located anywhere along the East Coast of Australia are welcome. The company supports a hybrid working model with designated boost days for in-office collaboration. Requirements: - Deep technical familiarity with complex, large-scale big data systems and real-time data products - Proven ability to communicate sophisticated data concepts clearly to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders - Experience operating autonomously in ambiguous environments, making confident decisions without a clear path forward - Skill in managing conflicting priorities from demanding business units such as marketing and sales - Strong commercial mindset with background in handling marketing or sales data portfolios - Comfort partnering closely with cross-functional engineering and data science teams to assess technical feasibility
