Archer Technologies is an aerospace company developing all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for sustainable air mobility. The Lead Structures Engineer – Special Programs role is a senior individual contributor position focused on structural engineering for prototype vehicles and advanced defense programs.
You will lead structural design and analysis across airframe structures, loads analysis (V-n diagrams, wing loads, fuselage loads, landing gear), and structural substantiation. Key responsibilities include supporting rapid prototyping from concept through detailed design and test, owning the structural discipline within Special Programs by setting technical standards and analysis methods, and conducting feasibility assessments of emerging concepts and RFPs.
You'll work cross-functionally with program leads and broader engineering teams, produce technical documentation and trade studies, and represent Special Programs work in internal reviews and government stakeholder discussions. The role emphasizes technical ownership and autonomy within a small, fast-moving team focused on forward-looking defense efforts.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering (advanced degree preferred), 8–12 years of aerospace structural design and analysis experience, strong proficiency with FEA tools and structural analysis methods, and demonstrated ability to work across full development lifecycles in resource-constrained environments. You must be comfortable operating as a generalist, working independently with significant technical ownership, and have the ability to evaluate technical feasibility of early-stage concepts. U.S. Person status (citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) is required due to ITAR/EAR regulations, and you must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
