As Lead for Spacecraft Mechanisms at Impulse, you will own all aspects of spacecraft mechanism design, analysis, implementation, operation, sustainment, and improvement. You'll lead a team of senior engineers responsible for developing high-performance spacecraft components from clean sheet design through production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead a team of engineers working on mechanisms and components including deployable structures, actuators, solar modules, and separation systems
- Determine the product roadmap for spacecraft mechanisms by collaborating with partner teams, leadership, and business development
- Architect and implement engineering processes to streamline mechanism development, testing, and sustainment through production ramp
- Create and execute spacecraft mechanism test campaigns
- Work across engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to deliver reliable, high-performing components to flight vehicles
- Provide direct technical ownership and contribute individual technical work on mechanisms
You will operate in a fast-paced, agile environment focused on delivering mission-critical spacecraft systems. The role combines people leadership with hands-on technical contribution, requiring deep expertise in spacecraft mechanisms and the ability to scale engineering processes as the company grows.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or related field
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience developing, testing, and flying spacecraft mechanisms as a technical individual contributor
- Strong technical knowledge in one or more spacecraft mechanism types
- Professional experience managing and growing a team
- Track record of execution and results in aerospace/spacecraft environments
