Applied Intuition is a $15B-valued AI infrastructure company powering physical intelligence across automotive, defense, trucking, construction, mining, and agriculture. This role leads the Forward Deployed Engineering team, serving as the technical bridge between Applied Intuition's vehicle intelligence platforms (Axion, Acuity) and U.S. defense and government customers. You will own end-to-end execution of high-stakes projects in small teams, working directly with defense contractors and military environments to deploy, integrate, and operationalize vehicle intelligence solutions. Responsibilities span software engineering, operating system configuration, system deployment, hardware integration, and customer problem-solving. You'll design scalable architectural approaches for customer engagement, collaborate across internal engineering and product teams, and drive projects to completion in ambiguous, rapidly evolving operational contexts. The role demands both technical depth and operational excellence. You'll leverage Applied Intuition's robust commercial technology stack to deliver capabilities that traditional defense contractors take years to develop, while managing integration challenges across customer-built systems and Applied's solutions. Required: 6+ years professional software engineering experience, strong background in Computer Science/Engineering/Electrical Engineering, proficiency in C++ and Python, broad experience across software, operating systems, and hardware, proven ability to integrate and deploy complex systems, exceptional problem-solving in ambiguous environments, and excellent communication skills. Must be a U.S. Citizen eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Nice-to-have: prior government/defense contractor/military experience, system architecture expertise, background in defense, automotive, or robotics. Applied Intuition is primarily in-office (5 days/week from D.C. office) with flexibility for occasional remote work and schedule accommodation.
