PactFi is building secure, end-to-end operational infrastructure for private asset markets (PE, private credit, VC, real estate), which collectively manage nearly $10T in AUM and are projected to grow to $17T within five years. The company's web-based platform brings together all parties in complex private credit transactions—enabling efficient capital allocation, KYC completion, document sharing, fund flow management, and more. The platform meets bank-grade security standards and holds SOC 2 Type 2 attestation. PactFi was developed in close partnership with two of the industry's largest private credit players. You will serve as a technical lead for a product squad, acting as a hands-on generalist builder who ships features and elevates the team around you. This is a technical leadership track with optional management of up to 2 direct reports. You'll spend most of your time building and reviewing code, with the remainder spent raising engineering standards and mentoring. Key responsibilities include: designing and shipping full-stack features end-to-end (data model, API, interface), setting technical standards for your area (architecture, API design, testing, documentation), leading design discussions and making pragmatic trade-offs, identifying and paying down technical debt, and mentoring mid-level and junior engineers through pairing and code review. You'll break large initiatives into well-scoped work, run architecture and code reviews, help with hiring and onboarding, and own squad delivery and health. Cross-functionally, you'll align the technical roadmap with company strategy, partner with product managers to shape requirements, coordinate with QA, and communicate technical decisions clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Required qualifications: 6+ years shipping and operating production web applications; depth in at least one modern server-side language (PHP/Laravel, Python, Node/TypeScript, Ruby, Go) and one front-end framework; demonstrated ability to move quickly into unfamiliar languages and domains; proven experience leading projects and mentoring as a technical lead or staff engineer; strong grasp of API design and scalable architecture; advanced relational database skills (schema design, query optimization, caching); experience with authentication/authorization across systems; track record integrating multiple data sources and third-party APIs; excellent communication and influence without formal authority. Nice-to-haves include AWS or cloud platform experience with CI/CD, strong automated testing practice, exposure to PHP/Laravel or Vue.js (current stack), fintech or regulated environment background, AI/LLM feature experience, and prior team-growth or engineering-process experience.
