The company helps customers model challenging questions in engineering and science, from managing critical water supplies to assessing long-term safety of environmental systems. As a Lead Software Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across core subsystems of the simulation platform. You will guide architectural decisions, champion modern engineering practices, lead delivery of complex features, and safeguard the long-term health of the codebase. Operating with significant autonomy, you will act as a trusted expert in your domain. Key responsibilities include: Architecture & Modernization: Shape the architecture of core platform subsystems, including UI frameworks, calculation engines, file systems, APIs, and licensing. Lead modernization efforts to improve performance, maintainability, and scalability of legacy systems. Technical Leadership: Mentor engineers, review code and designs, establish best practices, and drive adoption of modern engineering standards. Guide technical decisions that balance short-term delivery with long-term platform health. Feature Delivery: Lead the design and implementation of complex features across the platform. Work cross-functionally with product, QA, and customer success teams to deliver high-impact capabilities. Codebase Health: Champion refactoring initiatives, improve test coverage, optimize performance, and reduce technical debt. Establish patterns and practices that make the codebase easier to maintain and extend.
