Anduril Industries is seeking a Software Architect to lead the technical direction of large-scale, real-time, mission-critical command and control (C2) software systems. You will define architectural strategies for high-performance systems spanning tactical edge deployments to distributed backend infrastructure, balancing performance, modularity, and maintainability at scale. In this role, you will architect and lead the design of numerics-heavy real-time systems powering air and missile defense and battlespace awareness capabilities. You'll partner closely with research scientists to transition advanced algorithms—including target tracking, state estimation, sensor fusion, and optimization—from prototype into production tactical code deployed to warfighters. You'll mentor senior engineers across the C2 organization, setting coding standards, review processes, and CI/CD best practices. Key responsibilities include defining the architectural vision for C2 software that ingests and fuses diverse sensor data in real time; leading design and implementation of performant algorithms in Rust and/or C++; making high-leverage trade-offs across performance, modularity, testability, and maintainability; engaging directly with DoD customers (Army, Air Force, MDA, SCO) to ensure mission-critical outcomes; troubleshooting complex real-world system issues spanning software, math, sensors, and networking; and contributing across all phases of the software development lifecycle from prototyping through field testing and deployment. Required: 10+ years of software engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent); deep expertise in modern C++ and Rust; experience architecting numerics-heavy real-time systems; fluency with asynchronous/multithreaded programming (e.g., Tokio); strong grasp of state estimation, target tracking, optimization, and dynamic programming (MCP/Bellman equations); and ability to troubleshoot issues spanning electromagnetics, bit encodings, and mathematical assumptions. Secret clearance required.
