Artemis Security is hiring its first Security Engineer to own internal security end-to-end. This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role with no direct reports, focused on building the company's internal security posture from the ground up. You will be the technical owner of Artemis's internal security, responsible for designing and operating systems, controls, and programs that protect the company. Key responsibilities include: Security (primary): Own the complete internal security posture including endpoint security, identity and access management (SSO, MFA, conditional access, PAM), network security, email security, and cloud security for the corporate environment. Design and run the vulnerability management program with patching, endpoint hardening, and continuous monitoring. Lead incident response for internal security events from detection through post-incident review. Drive compliance and certification work (SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and others), including scoping, evidence collection, and auditor coordination. Build and operate the security awareness program with training, phishing simulations, and role-specific education. Set and maintain security policies and standards. Own vendor risk and third-party security reviews. Partner with product security and engineering leadership to keep internal and product security aligned. IT (secondary but critical): Own IT architecture decisions, select and manage IT providers, manage tools and configurations across Google Workspace, Slack, identity providers, MDM, and related systems. Contribute to office network design, AV, and physical access controls. Required qualifications: 5+ years hands-on experience in security engineering, IT security, or corporate security with real ownership of internal security programs at top-tier software/tech companies. Deep expertise in identity and access management, endpoint security, cloud security (AWS/GCP/Azure), or SaaS security. Hands-on experience with SOC 2 and/or ISO 27001 audits. Strong understanding of modern attacker tradecraft and real breach scenarios. Direct experience leading incident response for internal security events. Familiarity with modern security tooling (EDR, SIEM, IAM, MDM, DLP, email security, vulnerability management). Strong systems thinking to balance security rigor with startup velocity. Clear communicator who can translate security tradeoffs to leadership and non-technical teams. Comfort operating autonomously in early-stage environments and building programs from scratch.
