LawnStarter is the nation's leading on-demand marketplace for lawn care and outdoor services, with over $150M in annual bookings and two consecutive years of profitability. The company is expanding beyond lawn care to become a one-stop shop for all home services and is investing in the next generation of its platform. You'll join a high-leverage Product Data Analytics team embedded across the business, owning the semantic layer and the metrics everyone trusts. This role brings dedicated analytical firepower to the Pro (supply) side of the marketplace. As a Lead Product Data Analyst, you'll directly impact business results through insights and reports. You'll work closely with product managers, researchers, and business stakeholders on prioritization, assessments, and business recommendations. You'll work with significant autonomy—setting your own standards, working independently, and acting as a trusted thought partner rather than an order-taker. The "Lead" title reflects the bar you hold your own analysis to and the bar you help everyone around you reach; there is no team to manage. Key responsibilities include: **Modeling & Analysis:** Navigate a complex marketplace system with many moving parts and often contradicting signals. Conduct analyses ranging from simple A/B tests to multivariate models on retention or ETA, backed by advanced SQL and intermediate Python or R. **Reporting:** Create and maintain the reporting system for a high number of metrics worth tracking. Understand stakeholder needs and ensure dashboards are trusted, current, organized, and easy to act on. **Analytics Engineering:** Work in the inner layers of the Data Warehouse to provide clean, documented datasets that power reports and end users. You'll use dbt for transformation, so SQL is essential. Key problems you'll solve include: untangling metrics that different teams cite differently and giving the business one trusted number; ensuring analysis actually changes decisions, not just delivers technically correct answers; building a data-driven culture where stakeholders can self-serve rather than creating a bottleneck; and teasing out what's actually driving metrics in a complex system with supply, demand, pricing, and service quality interactions. Success in Year 1 means: metrics teams rely on daily are trusted, documented, and current; routine questions are self-serve; you can name specific decisions your analysis changed; and the datasets and models you've built in dbt are clean and documented enough that other analysts build on them. You are AI-native, using Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, and similar tools daily to move faster with SQL, dbt models, scripting, and reporting. You have a learning mindset, taking pride in understanding problems deeply before reaching for answers. You set the bar through autonomous work and high standards, raising the bar for people around you. You're a team player who creates an environment where people are excited to work with you daily. You care deeply about understanding business needs and how analysis connects to product, customers, and financials. You have a bias for action, avoiding perfectionism and enjoying constraints. This role is NOT a ticket queue, a dashboard-admin seat, a people-management role, or a role that waits for perfectly clean data. **Tools:** SQL and dbt for transformation and modeling, Python or R for statistical deep dives, Lightdash as the primary BI layer for dashboards and self-serve reporting. **Requirements:** - Advanced SQL proficiency - Intermediate Python or R for statistical analysis - Experience with dbt for data transformation and modeling - Proven ability to conduct A/B testing and multivariate analysis - Experience building and maintaining dashboards and reporting systems - Strong business acumen and ability to connect analysis to business decisions - Comfort working with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) as part of daily workflow - Experience in marketplace or complex multi-sided platform analytics preferred - Ability to work autonomously and set high standards for analytical work - Excellent communication skills to translate technical analysis for non-technical stakeholders
