Salary: USD 86,628 - 109,761 / annual
Oscar Health is seeking a Senior Analyst, Data Analytics to join the SIU (Special Investigation Unit) team in New York. Oscar is a technology-driven health insurance company founded in 2012, built on a full-stack platform with a focus on serving members and reducing medical waste.
In this role, you will partner across the organization to identify and manage business inefficiencies. You will support teams in scoping, analyzing, and monitoring performance of critical financial and utilization metrics. Working independently with stakeholders, you will define key questions, scope analyses, and collaborate to deliver insights that drive better decision-making. You may present prepared analyses both internally and externally.
Key responsibilities include:
- Analyzing data to support business teams in making informed, data-driven decisions
- Translating complex findings into clear, compelling narratives for non-technical colleagues
- Overseeing creation and maintenance of operational and analytical dashboards, evolving them as user needs change
- Building models and tools to identify inefficiencies and generate actionable insights
- Collaborating across the organization to identify improvement actions and monitor initiative impact
- Supporting strategic projects as assigned
You will report to the Manager, SIU Data Analytics & Reporting. This is a hybrid role based in the New York City office, requiring 3 days per week in-office (Thursdays mandatory for team meetings; two other days flexible).
Requirements:
- 1+ years of technical work experience using analytical tools and writing analytical reports
- 1+ years demonstrated ability to work with large datasets and distill analyses into relevant insights with structured, systematic thinking
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated by experience on at least 2 reporting projects requiring communication between technical and non-technical users
- Experience in SQL (filtering, aggregating, building CTEs) OR proficiency in R or Python (including Pandas, for loops, statistical tests)
- Proficiency in Google Sheets or Excel (VLookup, nested if statements, connected Sheets)
- 1+ years experience in healthcare, finance, or insurance industry
Bonus qualifications:
- 1+ years experience in healthcare analytics and reporting
- 1+ years experience managing value-based contracts at a payer or provider organization (ACO, CIN, MSO)
- 1+ years experience developing dashboards and working with Looker or other BI/data visualization tools
- Exposure to healthcare contract negotiations, risk adjustment, ACA marketplace, quality of care, or population health
