Salary: USD 110,000 - 140,000 / annual
HeartFlow is a publicly traded medical technology company (HTFL) that develops AI-driven diagnostic solutions for coronary artery disease. The company's flagship product, HeartFlow FFR_CT Analysis, provides 3D models of coronary arteries to help clinicians assess blood flow and identify blockages. The product is cleared for use in the US, UK, Europe, Japan, and Canada, and has been used for over 750,000 patients worldwide.
The Data Analyst role is a hands-on technical position that builds and maintains HeartFlow's business-facing data platform. This includes analytical applications, reporting and visualization architecture, and semantic model definitions. The role combines application development with business intelligence architecture, producing version-controlled, peer-reviewed code deployed through continuous integration alongside dashboards, reports, and interfaces for business consumption.
Key responsibilities include:
• Analytical Application Development: Design, build, and maintain business-facing analytical applications and interfaces using Python and JavaScript, owning the full development lifecycle from requirements through deployment and maintenance.
• Business Intelligence & Reporting: Develop and maintain the reporting and visualization layer in Tableau, including calculated fields, parameters, dashboard design, and permissions management. Create dynamic visualizations for diverse stakeholder groups and design KPIs covering commercial performance, pipeline management, and strategic initiatives.
• Semantic Model Development: Author and extend Cube semantic model definitions as version-controlled code through pull request review, ensuring consistent business metric definitions and governance.
• CRM Data & Reporting: Design and maintain advanced reporting on Salesforce.com data, applying knowledge of SFDC reporting structure, object-field relationships, and system dynamics.
• Engineering Practice: Work within Git-based version control, branching strategies, pull request authorship and review, and CI/CD through GitHub Actions.
• Data Quality & Stewardship: Analyze and curate data sources, maintain data integrity through routine QC and validation, contribute to automated testing, and identify data defects in source systems.
• Data Governance: Administer role-based access control and row-level security for reporting and application assets.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Production, Compliance, Customer Success, and Medical Education to translate business questions into engineered, reusable data products.
The role spans both engineering and business fluency. The same person who writes application code is expected to understand the business decision it supports and stay engaged through adoption and iteration. Work ranges from governed dashboards for sales leadership to purpose-built applications that replace manual processes.
REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
• Strong SQL skills, including ability to write, optimize, and reason about queries against cloud data warehouses and semantic layers
• Demonstrated experience writing and maintaining production code in Python, JavaScript, or comparable language (application development, not solely scripting or notebook work)
• Proven experience with full-cycle dashboard development in Tableau, including calculated fields, parameters, dashboard design, publishing, and permissions management
• Strong grasp of variable and function-based calculations and ability to design custom, dynamic metrics and KPIs
• Working knowledge of Salesforce.com reporting structure, object-field relationships, and system dynamics
• Git-based development workflow: branching, pull request authorship and review, familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent)
• Experience creating dynamic and fluid modeling and visualizations for diverse stakeholder groups across all user levels
• Excellent communication and presentation skills appropriate to audience level, including ability to elicit requirements from non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to be agile and deadline-focused with high quality standards

Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Science, Business, or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience
• 2+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, or software development, including hands-on development work
• Experience with Tableau or equivalent BI software and Salesforce.com
• Demonstrated experience writing and maintaining code in Python, JavaScript, or comparable language
• Experience working within version-controlled development workflow and formal code review process
• Experience creating custom variable-based logic functions
Preferred:
• Familiarity with semantic modeling layers implemented as code (Cube, dbt Semantic Layer, LookML, or equivalent)
• Cloud data warehouse experience (Amazon Redshift or equivalent) as consumer and modeler
• Understanding of data access governance concepts (role-based access control, row-level security)
• Data quality and validation practice, including QC methodology and automated testing
• Fundamental knowledge of object-oriented programming
• Understanding of healthcare technology and commercialization
• Healthcare, medical device, or regulated industry experience
