Salary: USD 138,200 - 190,100 / annual

Archer is an aerospace company building all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for sustainable air mobility. The Special Programs team is a rapid-prototyping, cross-functional engineering group supporting advanced and defense-focused development efforts. In this role, you will lead vehicle-level integration and configuration design for prototype aircraft, owning how vehicles come together as a complete system. Your core responsibilities include: • Lead vehicle-level integration and configuration design, managing overall layout, packaging, and cross-discipline interface management • Support rapid prototyping end-to-end, from concept through detailed integration, build support, and flight test • Own the integration discipline within Special Programs, establishing technical approaches, standards, and methods for vehicle-level work • Conduct technical feasibility assessments of new opportunities, evaluating emerging concepts and RFPs against program constraints • Serve as a cross-functional technical contributor across Special Programs efforts as needed • Collaborate with program leads and broader Archer engineering teams to align technical approaches with timelines • Produce technical documentation, trade studies, and analysis packages for design reviews and capture decisions • Represent Special Programs work in internal reviews and government stakeholder discussions You will have significant technical ownership and autonomy within a small, fast-moving team. This is not a traditional management role—you'll lead through deep discipline expertise and technical authority rather than direct reports. Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (advanced degree preferred); 8–12 years of relevant aerospace engineering experience; demonstrated expertise in vehicle-level configuration design and cross-discipline integration; familiarity with interface control, configuration management, and whole-vehicle trade studies; ability to work across the full development lifecycle in fast-paced, resource-constrained environments; comfort operating as a generalist and contributing outside your core focus area; ability to work independently with significant technical ownership. U.S. Person status required (U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) due to ITAR/EAR compliance. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
