Tide is a fintech platform serving over 2 million SMEs globally with business banking and administrative solutions. This Director-level role leads Tide's First Line KYC (Know Your Customer) function for new member onboarding across all markets, with primary focus on UK operations.
You will oversee large operational teams responsible for identity verification, business verification, risk profiling, and regulatory screening during onboarding. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing scalable, compliant onboarding workflows; partnering with Compliance to embed regulatory changes; owning onboarding SLAs and quality metrics; defining automation and tooling strategies to optimize throughput and accuracy; and collaborating with Product and Engineering on feature development.
You'll maintain oversight of headcount, forecasting, and cost control; represent the function in governance forums and regulatory interactions; and drive a culture of ownership, compliance, and member-first mindset across teams.
Required experience: 5+ years in senior leadership roles in KYC, onboarding, or AML operations within Financial Services, Fintech, or regulated sectors. Deep expertise in KYC frameworks, member due diligence, business verification, and risk assessment. Proven track record managing large operational teams and developing talent. In-depth knowledge of UK Money Laundering Regulations, EU AMLD, and local licensing obligations. Understanding of risk typologies including impersonation fraud, synthetic identities, shell companies, PEPs, and sanctions. Experience implementing operational tools, decision engines, and automation with Product and Tech teams. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills for senior leaders and regulators. Data-driven mindset with confidence in KPIs, MI, and analytics. Ability to thrive in fast-paced, scaling environments.
