Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced technology. The Air Dominance & Strike team develops aerial and multi-domain robotic systems, including Fury (unmanned fighter jet) and Barracuda (air-breathing cruise missile), powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system for real-time command and control.
As a Senior Mechatronics Engineer, you will own core product development for complex systems spanning optical systems, batteries, mechanisms, control systems, and sensors. This is a high-ownership role requiring frequent cross-disciplinary collaboration with electrical, mechanical, software, and systems teams.
Key responsibilities include: executing rapid evaluation of engineering concepts across multiple domains; identifying and managing vendor relationships; performing trade studies and physics-based analysis on blue-sky problems; designing, implementing, and testing complex electro-mechanical systems; leading design reviews and hardware test plans; building and iterating prototypes; supporting customer hardware demonstrations; and traveling to test sites as needed. You will have large professional autonomy and the opportunity to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment.
Required qualifications: 5+ years of electrical/design experience in professional settings; demonstrated leadership in technical projects; PCB design experience (Altium, KiCAD, etc.); mechanical design for loads, stress, and fabrication; hands-on prototyping skills (soldering, board assembly, harnessing); experience with controls, actuation, robotics, or motor/servo drive systems; familiarity with microcontrollers, power conversion, and system integration; strong command of engineering first principles; BS/MS/PhD in engineering or equivalent; and eligibility for U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include bare metal microcontroller design experience, outstanding leadership skills, rugged environment design experience, embedded systems device tree familiarity, electro-mechanical design expertise, experience developing complex hardware products (UGVs, wearables, high-power propulsion, optical systems), circuit characterization skills, wireless protocol knowledge, microcontroller communication protocol experience (USB, SPI, I2C, CAN, UART), and practical electrical engineering tool proficiency.
