Halter is transforming livestock farming through autonomous grazing technology. This role is a player-coach position owning a portfolio of machine design and equipment delivery programs. You will scale outcomes through coaching and developing engineers while directly leading the highest-risk automation and station design work.
Key responsibilities include: owning priorities across multiple machine design programs, balancing schedule, technical risk, and production impact; leading complex automation delivery from concept through design, build, commissioning, validation, and handover; setting and improving standards for mechanical/mechatronics design, documentation, and design reviews; sponsoring highest-risk station and automation designs; driving systemic improvements to line performance including downtime reduction and maintainability; developing team capability through coaching and technical bar-setting; and partnering cross-functionally with Production Engineering, Manufacturing, Reliability, and leadership.
You will need deep technical expertise in mechanical and mechatronics engineering with strong experience designing fixtures, automation equipment, and production test stations. Proven ability to deliver complex manufacturing automation from concept through commissioning and sustaining support is essential. Strong technical leadership capability, demonstrated ability to improve reliability and production line performance, and excellent cross-functional communication skills are required. The ideal candidate can set direction, create alignment across teams, and make sound tradeoffs across schedule, risk, quality, and factory impact.
