Amca is building America's new industrial base by rapidly developing and manufacturing critical components and subsystems for aviation and military platforms. The company operates seven factories nationwide and delivers avionics, hydraulic, and electrical components for aircraft like the F-35, F-16, F/A-18, 737MAX, 787, and A320neo, as well as military vehicles including the M1 Abrams.
You will be a senior technical contributor on the mechanical engineering team, owning the design, build, or test of flight hardware within a defined mechanical discipline such as fluid systems, mechanisms, structural assemblies, cockpit avionics hardware, or power electronics packaging. This is a deeply hands-on role for an engineer who thrives on hard technical problems, takes full ownership of their work, and is ready to grow into broader leadership.
Key responsibilities include serving as the technical lead for a defined mechanical discipline and owning design decisions end-to-end; building out your own team of mechanical engineers with extreme ownership over team progression; executing detailed design work including drawings, GD&T, FEA, component specifications, and risk assessments; driving hardware from bench prototype through qualification and production handoff using Amca's in-house R&D lab and protoshop; leading or supporting qualification campaigns including functional, environmental, and structural testing per MIL-STD and aerospace standards; spearheading root cause investigations and owning corrective actions; ensuring designs are optimized for reliability, manufacturability, and cost; providing technical mentorship to less experienced engineers; collaborating with cross-functional teams; participating in design reviews; and supporting customer-facing engagements as a subject matter expert.
Required qualifications include substantial experience in mechanical engineering for aerospace or defense hardware with a strong track record taking products from concept through flight qualification into production; deep technical expertise in at least one mechanical discipline with working fluency across adjacent areas; hands-on lab experience in prototyping and testing; strong command of engineering first principles across thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and solid mechanics; and proven ability to simplify requirements and drive toward elegant solutions under constraints.
